IPC J-STD Initial is a five-day, in-person course at Forge & Fusion Academy in Aurora, Colorado, that prepares technicians to earn their first IPC J-STD-001 certification. IPC J-STD-001, Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, is the industry standard for soldering materials, methods and acceptance criteria. Students who already have hands-on soldering experience study the standard’s acceptability requirements for solder connections, learn to recognize common soldering defects, and finish by taking the certification exam. The course is taught by certified instructors and is designed for technicians who build, rework or repair soldered electronic assemblies.
Students without prior soldering experience should start with Solder Training and IPC J-STD Certification instead.
